Who we are
Island Craft Co. sells handmade woven homeware and accessories. This notice explains what personal data we collect when you visit this website or place an order, why we collect it, and what rights you have.
Data controller: [TO BE COMPLETED: registered company name and address]. You can reach us at our contact page.
What we collect
- Order data — your name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number, and the contents and value of your order.
- Account data — if you create an account, your email address and order history.
- Payment data — payments are processed by our payment provider. We receive confirmation that a payment was made, but we never see or store your full card number.
- Messages — anything you send us through the contact form or by email.
- Technical data — IP address, browser type and pages visited, where analytics is active.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To take, process, ship and invoice your order — performance of a contract.
- To answer your questions and handle returns — performance of a contract or our legitimate interest in supporting customers.
- To keep accounting and tax records — legal obligation.
- To send marketing emails — only if you have opted in, so with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
How long we keep it
Order and invoice records are kept for as long as tax law requires (up to 6 years under UK tax rules). Contact messages are kept for up to 24 months. Marketing consent is kept until you withdraw it.
Who we share it with
We share data only with the service providers needed to run the shop — for example our payment provider, shipping carriers, our email host and our website host. They may only use your data to provide that service to us. We never sell your personal data.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your data, to object to processing, to receive your data in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact us and we will respond within one month.
Cookies
This website uses the cookies needed to run the shop — for example to remember what is in your cart and to keep you logged in. Analytics cookies are only set if analytics is enabled, and only in a form that does not identify you.
Complaints
If you believe we have handled your data incorrectly, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
Changes
We may update this notice from time to time. The version published on this page is the one that applies.
